Chandigarh Beopar Mandal demands trader’s issues, welfare steps governing trade and upgrading of markets to be part of manifesto to be released by city BJP for coming Lok Sabha Elections. Chandigarh Beopar Mandal called on Sh. Jatinder Pal Malhotra, President, BJP and Sh. Sanjay Tandon, BJP candidate for Lok Sabha Elections submitting a detail memorandum of Trader’s issues and that of markets of city.  

A delegation of Chandigarh Beopar Mandal called on Sh. J P Malhotra, President, BJP and submitted a memorandum containing traders issues with a request to include maximum points in their manifesto as assurance to traders that issues will be resolved soon. Sh. Sanjay Tandon, BJP candidate for Lok Sabha Elections was also present in the meeting.

Important issues in the Memorandum are:-

  1. Implementation of OTS Scheme for Vat Assessment Cases on Punjab Pattern.
  2. Making Commercial and Industrial property Freehold with Reasonable Charges.
  3. Rationalization of Extra Coverage Charges while Converting SCF to SCO.
  4. Rationalization of Penalty under Building Bye Laws.
  5. Permission of General Trade in the Upper Floors of Commercial Buildings without Conversion Charges.
  6. Construction of First Floor on Single Storey Booths/Bay Shops for Storage Purpose.
  7. Estate Office should not interfere or object to any internal changes or temporary partition inside the shops required for modern day trade.
  8. Expansion of Parking Facility in Markets.
  9. Shifting of Unauthorized Vendors sitting in Markets to Vendor Zones.
  10. Implementation of Fire Safety Measures and Mandatory NOC only on Buildings above 15 Meters Height.
  11. Formation of Chandigarh Traders Welfare Board.

Sh. Jatinder Pal Malhotra and Sh. Sanjay Tandon assured the delegation that they will include Trader’s Issues in party Election Manifesto and will try to resolve maximum issues in the next term.

The CBM delegation consisted of Sh. Charanjiv Singh, Sh. Parshotam Mahajan, Sh. Anil Vohra, Sh. Subhash Narang, Sh. Bhupinder Narad, Sh. Rajan Mahajan, Sh. Ravinder Singh Billa, Sh. Baljinder Gujral, Sh. Radhey Lal, Sh. Mohit Sood, Sh. Vinod Joshi, Sh. Harjit Singh, Sh. Avnish Bansal. This memorandum will be submitted to candidate/President of all prominent political parties.
