Chandigarh, September 6 – Haryana Home Minister, Sh. Anil Vij has said that India is a democratic country, here everyone has the right to speak and protest. He appealed to the farmers who are protesting tomorrow that they should protest peacefully and the common man should not be affected.
Sh. Vij was interacting with the mediapersons here today.
He said that for the convenience of the people, we have made all the arrangements, have diverted some of the routes and have also deployed sufficient force. Sh. Vij has also directed Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order) Sh. Navdeep Singh Virk to personally stay there and monitor the whole situation so that the event ends peacefully.
Responding to a question regarding internet shutdown, Sh. Vij said that to prevent mischievous elements from taking advantage of such programmes the administration has to be careful.
In response to the question regarding invoking Section 144, the Home Minister said that wherever the farmers want to protest, we will allow it. He said that “they have to tell the farmer leaders and organizers that the responsibility of maintaining peace is on them too”. He expressed hope that this programme of farmers would be conducted in a peaceful manner.
