Chandigarh, August 18. In order to curb electricity theft in the state and to encourage consumers/non-consumers to pay penalties imposed for electricity theft, the Haryana State Enforcement Bureau has released two dedicated helpline numbers—Call Centre Number: 0172-2801240 and Toll-Free Number: 1800-180-2124. The Toll-Free Number operates 24×7, while the Call Centre Number functions from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Through the Toll-Free Number, the public can directly report complaints and suggestions related to electricity theft and illegal connections to the Bureau, whereas the Call Centre Number is specifically aimed at creating awareness among citizens about paying penalties for electricity theft.
The State Enforcement Bureau believes that electricity theft not only causes a loss to government revenue but also puts an additional burden on honest consumers. With this in mind, the Bureau has operationalized these helpline numbers to enable citizens to conveniently register complaints, thereby ensuring immediate departmental action. At the same time, efforts will be made to create awareness about timely payment of penalties for electricity theft.
According to the Bureau, upon receiving information related to electricity theft, prompt action is ensured. This initiative has led to a relative decrease in electricity theft incidents in comparison to previous years and has further promoted a transparent and accountable electricity supply system in the state.Public Appeal
