CHANDIGARH 3 FEB 2021, CHANDIGARH BEOPAR MANDAL DELEGATION CALLED ON MAYOR AND DEMANDS RATIONALIZATION OF WATER TARIFF AND DOOR TO DOOR GARBAGE COLLECTION CHARGES FOR COMMERCIAL ESTABLISMENTS.
A delegation of Chandigarh Beopar Mandal comprising Sh. Charanjiv Singh, President, Sh. Sanjeev Chadha, Sh. Subhash Narang, Sh. Parshotam Mahajan, Sh. Anand Syal, Sh. Sanjeev Grover, Sh. Sushil Bansal, Sh. Kamal Suri and Sh. Ajay Gupta today called on Sh. Ravi Kant Sharma, Mayor.
A memorandum was submitted requesting him to reconsider sharp increase in water tariff and reduce it from Rs.30/- per K.L to Rs.20/- per K.L. for commercial establishments. Minimum charges of Rs.1000/- per month should be abolished and bill should be raised on the basis of consumption in the meter. Memorandum copies attached.
In the second memorandum, it is submitted that user charges for door to door collection of garbage for Commercial Establishments, Shops have been mentioned a Rs.500/- per month at Sr. No.3 of Schedule-1 of Chandigarh Waste Management Bylaws 2018 irrespective of size of Shop. It should be rationalize and brought at par with the charges which traders are already paying to the shop to shop garbage collectors doing this job independently. It won’t be justified or practical to charge more for the same work being done earlier.
So, reasonable rates per month should be fixed as per below:-
Booth- Rs.50/-Single Storey Bay Shop- Rs.100/, SCO/SCF in Internal Sector Markets – Rs.100/- per floor (Total Rs.300/-), SCO-Restaurant/Dhaba in Sector Markets -Rs.250/- per floor, Two Bay SCO on V-3 Roads – Rs.200/- per floor (Total Rs.500/-)
Sh. Ravi Kant Sharma, Mayor was kind enough to insure the delegation to soon initiate the process for rationalization of both water tariff and door to door garbage collection charges.
